Tour Itinerary

Day 1: We travel toward coastal New England and the beautiful city of Newport. Our first stop today is the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat. We first board the train for a picturesque trip along the Connecticut River. At Deep River Landing we enjoy a cruise on the Becky Thatcher Riverboat. The coves, marshes and rocky shoreline provide panoramic viewing. We later arrive in Newport, our home for the next three nights. Tonight you will be our guests for dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2: We enjoy a guided tour of Newport, America’s first resort town. During the tour we visit the Breaker’s Mansion, the grandest of Newport’s summer “cottages” and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family’s social and financial position in America at the turn of the century. After some free time on the waterfront for lunch on your own, we get a close-up view of the Grand Estates, yachts and lighthouses during a scenic Newport Harbor Cruise. Dinner is included at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 3: We journey to the historic city of Boston, where upon arrival we enjoy a guided tour. Learn about all the historic landmarks of this great American city and its place in our nation’s history. After lunch on your own at Quincy Market, we tour the Kennedy Library and learn about the life and times of President John F. Kennedy. Dinner is again included tonight. (D)

Day 4: Our time in Newport is coming to an end, but our fun is just starting. We travel to Mystic Seaport and tour their fabulous museum. Explore American maritime history first-hand as we climb aboard tall ships and wander through a re-created 19th century coastal village. You will also have free time to explore Old Mystic Village and browse through their shops and eateries. We return home early evening.
