Day 2: Breakfast at the inn, then depart with your local guide for a day in Vermont. Visit the Coolidge Birthplace & Homestead, where our 30th president was born and raised. See the historical museum, carriage barn, general store, summer White House, church and Plymouth Cheese factory. Lunch is on your own in the quaint village of Woodstock. Visit Sugarbush Farms and learn how they make their maple syrup and cheddar cheese. Stop for photos at Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s “Little Grand Canyon.” Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (B, D)

Day 3: After breakfast, check out with your guide for New Hampshire. Stop at the Brick Country Store and Bath Covered Bridge before lunch on your own in Littleton, New Hampshire. Tour the working Littleton Grist Mill and see the world’s longest candy counter at Chutter’s General Store. A short nature walk on the paved path at “The Basin” uncovers the beauty of the water-filled, basin-shaped natural rock pothole. Ride the longest sky ride in New Hampshire, the Loon Mountain Gondola, before arriving at Lake Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad to board the train for a scenic ride along the shores of the lake, complete with a roast turkey dinner. Check into your lodging in the area for a restful night. (B, D)

Day 4: Breakfast at the inn, then check out and depart for Maine. Arrive in Kennebunkport, where your guide takes you past the Bush’s summer home and sea captains’ mansions. Lunch is on your own at Dock Square with time to explore the shops. The highlight of your afternoon is a 90-minute “Lighthouse Lover’s Cruise” featuring views of four lighthouses, including Portland Head Light. Check into your lodging this evening in the Portland, Maine area and prepare for a delicious, Downeast Maine Lobsta Bake. (B, D)
