Day 1: The rich history and the unsurpassed beauty of the 1000 Islands has lured visitors for generations. We travel through New York state and arrive in the 1000 Islands area for a two night visit. Dinner is included upon arrival. (D)
Day 2: We meet our guide and begin our exploration of the world-famous 1000 Islands. See the shoreline dotted with historic lighthouses, summer mansions and impressive marinas. We next relax on a 1000 Islands Luncheon cruise as this “Two-Nation Cruise” introduces us to the sights in both Canadian and American waters. During the cruise we stop at Boldt Castle. This 129-room replica of a Rhineland castle was built over the course of four years at the turn of the century by entrepreneur George Boldt for his wife as a “summer home.” Following our tour we relax at our hotel before enjoying dinner at a popular local restaurant. (B, L, D)
Day 3: We depart the 1000 Islands this morning and begin our journey to the Finger Lakes. Enroute we visit the Willard Memorial Chapel and tour this 1890’s unaltered Tiffany glass decorated chapel. After lunch on your own in Aurora, we stop at a local winery and take in the flavor of a local vineyard. Tonight we enjoy dinner at Belhurst Castle, overlooking Seneca Lake. Enjoy a wine tasting in the historic castle and learn about the numerous wineries within the Finger Lakes Wine Country. We enjoy a delicious dinner in this stunning building with an equally stunning view. (B, D)
Day 4: This morning we tour Sonnenburg Gardens and Mansion, perched atop a sunburned hill. We enjoy a tour of the estate, greenhouse complex and the fabulous themed gardens. Take time for lunch at the Canandaigua Center, complete with beautiful scenery and plenty of shops and restaurants to visit and explore. This afternoon we cruise aboard the “Canandaigua Lady”, a replica of a 19th-century paddlewheel steamboat. Dinner will be included at a popular local restaurant. (B, D)
Day 5: We kick off our day with a fine wine tasting before we begin our journey home. Our last stop will be at the Corning Glass Center, where we witness glass-blowing demonstrations and view their many exhibits. We return home early evening. (B)
