We arrive early afternoon and visit the Vanderbilt Mansion, a remarkable example of a gildedage country palace. We will tour this beautiful mansion owned by the Vanderbilt family, enhanced by its Hudson River background. We spend the next three nights in Latham, NY. Dinner is included tonight. (D)
Day 2: We visit the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, Home and National Historic Site this morning. Step back in history and learn about our 25th President with wonderful exhibits covering his childhood to presidency, including the war era, depression years and his beloved family. We travel to Kingston for lunch on your own at this historic city on the Hudson River. This afternoon we cruise along the Hudson River and take in the stunning shoreline aboard the Rip Van Winkle. Our next stop is the Fly Creek Cider Mill, where we enjoy a tasting of their delicious apple wines and hard ciders. Tonight, a unique dining experience awaits us at Brook’s Roost Restaurant, a unique cabin facility that serves the region’s best barbque meals. (B, D)
