Day 1: Enjoy the crisp New England air of autumn as we travel from quiet coastal villages to scenic mountain passes. We arrive in Plymouth, NH where we spend the next two nights. Dinner at a popular local restaurant is included tonight. (D)
Day 2: A full day of fall touring awaits us today. Our first stop is the Flume Gorge Visitor’s Center, where we learn about the “Granite State” through various exhibits. We continue through Franconia Notch, one of New Hampshire’s most scenic passages where shear rock walls reach the sky. We then take an exciting aerial tram ride to the top of Cannon Mountain for foliage vistas as far as New York and Canada. Following lunch on your own in Littleton, we visit North Conway Village, one of New Hampshire’s most charming villages. We then journey over the Kancamagus Highway featuring spectacular views of the foliage, waterfalls and maybe even a moose or two. All aboard for a delicious dinner while riding beautifully restored historic railcars. The Café Lafayette Dinner Train is recognized as one of the nation’s premier dinner trains. Take in the spectacular ever-changing views of New Hampshire’s White Mountains, sit back and enjoy this unique dining experience. (B, D)
Day 3: We relax on a wonderful morning cruise on New Hampshire’s largest lake, Lake Winnipesaukee. Enjoy the fabulous views of the three mountain ranges surrounding the lake and 365 islands. We then tour Castle in the Clouds and learn about the history of this mansion, perched high above New Hampshire’s largest lake. We continue up the New England coast enjoying dinner at Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine. We spend the next two nights in Portland. (B, D)
Day 4: We visit quaint Boothbay Railway Village, a turn of the 20th century Maine village, containing railroad memorabilia, antique cars and trucks, village shops, a general store and even a village green. You will also get a chance to ride on a narrow- gauge, coal-fired steam engine. After lunch on your own in Boothbay, we hop aboard the Boothbay Harbor Nature and Lobster cruise. The rocky coast is even more picturesque from the water. Tonight, we complete our day with a mouth- watering, ocean-fresh Maine lobster dinner. (B, D)
Day 5: Today we depart for home through the fall foliage with meals and rest stops along the way. (B)
