Day 1: We travel west today enroute to Dearborn, MI, our home for the evening. Dinner is included tonight. (D)
Day 2: Rise and shine, have breakfast and then travel through the unique adventure of 300 years of American history captured within 254 acres of indoor and outdoor historical exhibits and shops at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Founded by Henry Ford in 1929, the museum and village depict the sweeping changes that transformed America into a dynamic industrial society. The museum experience is complemented by a variety of historic structures, an operating sawmill, a pottery shop, glassmaking plant, steam-powered print shop and more. We continue to the charming Bavarian-like town of Frankenmuth, where we enjoy a delicious dinner. (D)
Day 3: The morning is free to explore Frankenmuth, known for its famous Christmas store, before we continue to Mackinac Island aboard the ferry and the luxurious Island House for two memorable nights. Following a delicious dinner, enjoy free time strolling along the enchanting village streets. (D)
Day 4: We’ve included breakfast and a captivating guided tour of the island and Fort Mackinac on a horse-drawn carriage. The magic continues as we enjoy the famous buffet lunch at the Grand Hotel. The bountiful buffet extends over 100 feet in length! Your afternoon is free to explore the shops and relax on the Island House porch with a favorite cocktail before dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Following breakfast, we return to the mainland enroute to the Music House Museum, containing a rare collection of antique musical instruments and music-making machines. We later travel to Holland, MI and enjoy dinner at a popular local restaurant. (B, D)
Day 6: This morning we embark on an exciting dune buggy ride along the shores of Lake Saugatuck before we return to Holland to tour Windmill Island, an authentic reproduction of a Dutch town with a lifestyle of 100 years ago. We spend the night in Ohio.
Day 7: We begin our journey home, filled with the memories of a fantastic week in the beautiful state of Michigan.
