Day 1: Travel to beautiful Vermont as we enjoy the spectacular 40th Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. We arrive late afternoon and visit the Apple Barn and Country Folk Shop, where we ride to the top of the orchard for a panoramic view of the Vermont countryside. Perhaps you may want to dig into a slice of their signature apple pie. We stay in Rutland for the next two nights. A delicious dinner concludes our day. (D)
Day 2: Breathe in the fresh air at the Billings Farm Museum and Wagon Ride. Experience the working dairy operation and walk through the heirloom gardens, located in the rolling Vermont hills. We next travel to Woodstock, the quintessential New England “village.” Woodstock is chockfull of charming Americana, including a covered bridge smack in the center of town and a village green surrounded by restored Georgian, Federal Style and Greek Revival homes. A savory luncheon will be included before we continue to Quechee Gorge for a photo-op at “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon.” We also visit a local country store filled with Vermont’s largest collection of handcrafted items. Late afternoon, we arrive at the Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival. Enjoy the spectacular 6:00 P.M. launch (weather permitting) and the exciting “Balloon Glow” after dark. Enjoy the entertainment at the festival including music, vocalists, jugglers, comedy acts, crafts and many food selections. Dinner will be on your own at the festival. (B, L)
