Day 1: Join us on a new tour that explores both train trips and cruises from Connecticut to Maine. We will ride on four different trains and enjoy three cruises during our tour. Today we travel to Essex, CT, and ride the rails aboard the Essex Steam Train complete with vintage rail cars. Travel through beautiful countryside to the riverside along the Connecticut River Valley. We spend the night in the Mystic, CT, area where we unwind over dinner at a popular local restaurant. (D)
Day 2: We arrive in Boston and discover this historic city on a guided tour. View the USS Constitution, Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Bunker Hill and all the other sights that make Boston famous. Free time for lunch on your own will be given at Quincy Market. This afternoon we relax on a narrated cruise of Boston Harbor. Learn about the past, present and future of this historic waterfront including Charles Navy Yard, Boston’s fishing industry, the Tea Party site, and more. We continue to Dover, NH, where we spend the next three nights. Dinner completes our day’s travels. (B, D)
Day 3: Discover Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire’s largest lake by rail on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Enjoy the scenic excursion hugging the picturesque shoreline, with views of “Grand Style Resorts”, pristine woodlands, lake wildlife and more. Next enjoy a hot and cold buffet aboard the M/S Mount Washington cruise. Relax and enjoy this 72 square-mile lake. We later visit Wolfeboro, where we spend time on your own in this charming, lakeside village. Dinner is again included tonight. (B, L, D)
Day 4: We travel to Maine this morning and enjoy a Lighthouse Lover’s cruise. View as many as seven lighthouses along with spectacular views of Maine’s rocky coast. This afternoon take
a trip back in time as we enjoy magnificent views of Portland’s waterfront aboard the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. Discover the unique two-foot-gauge train that linked rural Maine to the rest of the world. Tonight enjoy the freshest of New England seafood with a traditional lobster bake coupled with a dose of down east entertainment. (B, D)
Day 5: We depart for our final train trip, riding Amtrak’s Coastal train from New Hampshire to Massachusetts. Sit back, relax and enjoy the view. We complete the remainder of our journey on our deluxe motorcoach, returning home early evening. (B)
