Day 2: We tour the Boothbay Harbor region and find out why this area is considered the “Soul of the Maine Coast”. We will explore quiet coves, rocky shores, country roads and beautiful lighthouses. You will have time for lunch on your own in this delightful coastal town of Boothbay Harbor, filled with shops, restaurants and beautiful views of Maine’s rocky coastline. Following lunch we enjoy a Lighthouse Lover’s cruise, where we view as many as seven lighthouses including the famous Portland Headlight. Enjoy the views of coastal forts, Maine lobster boats, playful seals and an array of seabirds. Dinner is again included tonight. (B, D)
Day 3: We tour Portland this morning including views of Henry Wadsworth’s boyhood home, Portland Headlight, Victorian mansions and scenic Casco Bay. We enjoy a Lobster Roll lunch before visiting the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum. We take a trip back in time as we enjoy the magnificent views of Portland’s waterfront aboard antique rail cars pulled by hard-working steam and diesel locomotives. We relax over dinner before the Tall Ships arrive in Portland Harbor. We will be awed by the sight of these ships arriving from all over the world. (B, L, D)
Day 4: This morning we will walk the decks, meet the crew and enjoy the feel of a tall ship beneath our feet afloat in Portland’s scenic harbor. We spend the morning enjoying the Tall Ships and enjoy lunch on our own before departing Portland. We discover Maine’s charming southern coast. In Kennebunkport, enjoy the views of the Bush Estate, Wedding Cake House and a tour of the Franciscan Monastery. Later, view the seaside town of Ogunquit and the fishing community of Perkins Cove. Tonight enjoy the freshest of New England seafood with a traditional lobster bake, coupled with a dose of down east entertainment. We spend the night in Dover, NH. (B, D)
