Day 2: We tour the Hildene Estate, home of the Lincoln family descendants. This 24-room Georgian Revival mansion features original furnishings, Lincoln family artifacts, gardens and a 1,000-piece organ played for each tour group. There is even a 1903 Pullman Palace Train Car that will let you see how the rich and famous traveled at the turn of the century. We enjoy an included luncheon at Vermont’s famous Waybury Inn, featured in the Bob Newhart Show. Our next visit is to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory as we learn how these famous, quality bears are created. We continue to Burlington and allow you free time for dinner and to explore Church Street Market place, a four-block pedestrian mall with over 130 unique shops, restaurants and street vendors. We spend the night in Williston. (B, L)
Day 3: Our day begins with a visit to the Cabot Cheese Store, where you can browse their fantastic selection of Cabot products, sample the award-winning cheeses, and delight in many other Vermont specialty foods. We then visit Ben & Jerry’s for a tour and tasting at this famous ice cream facility. After lunch on your own at the charming New England village of Stowe, we visit the Von Trapp Brewery, where Austrian-style lagers are brewed right here in America. Perhaps the highlight of our tour will be a visit to the Von Trapp Lodge. We start with an introductory film on Maria Von Trapp. Learn all about the “Sound of Music” family as we tour the property and grounds with the majestic Green Mountains providing the magnificent backdrop. We then enjoy dinner at the Lodge, known for their outstanding cuisine. Top your meal off with some outstanding Austrian pastries. (B, D)

After watching an introductory film, we embark on a guided tour of the facility including the barn, training areas and visiting the colts. We then stop at Danforth Pewter Workshop and Store and watch craftsmen create functional pewter designs that stand the test of time. Our third stop will be the Shelburne Museum, known as New England’s Smithsonian. There are 37 exhibit buildings including three galleries of American paintings and art, seven furnished historic homes, a general store and more. Take time for lunch on your own at the Museum’s café. Tonight we unwind on a dinner cruise aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen as we gently cruise scenic Lake Champlain. Enjoy great views of the surrounding mountains and listen to the sounds of summer brought to you by the onboard DJ. (B, D)
