Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Enjoy beautiful mountain scenery as we travel to the Green Mountain state of Vermont. We arrive late afternoon in Killington for a four-night stay. Tonight we enjoy an included dinner. (D)

Day 2: We visit popular Dakin Farms and learn how time honored skills and century-old tradition combine with the most modern smokehouse facilities to produce ham, cheddar cheese, Vermont maple syrup and other specialty foods. A luncheon buffet cruise on scenic Lake Champlain onboard the Ethan Allen will afford us great views of the Adirondack and Green Mountains. We make a quick visit to Ben & Jerry’s, home of Vermont’s finest ice cream. We then stop at the Von Trapp Lodge on a one-of-a-kind guided tour. Learn all about the “Sound of Music” family as we tour the property and grounds with the majestic Green Mountains providing a magnificent backdrop. Dinner is also included tonight. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Tour the Hildene Estate, home of the Lincoln family descendants. This 24-room Georgian Revival mansion features original furnishings, family artifacts and gorgeous gardens. Time for lunch on your own in Manchester, filled with shopping and eateries. Following lunch, we visit the Friesians of Majesty Tour and Show. Interact with these beautiful horses in a guided tour of the European- style barns. Watch a captivating performance at their new indoor arena. Our final stop today is at the Vermont Country Store. It’s like shopping in a museum with fascinating merchandise and New England antiques. Dinner is included at historic Bryant House, located at the Country Store. (B, D)

Day 4: We tour the Woodstock region and learn the history of Rockefeller’s influence on conservation farming in Vermont. Our guide will tell us about maple sugaring production and lead us to Quechee Gorge, “Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon.” We have lunch on our own at Woodstock Village, nestled in the Vermont mountains. Our final stop is Billings Farm Museum, where we tour the 1890 Farm House, experience the working dairy operation and even take a horse-drawn wagon ride along a scenic country road. A final dinner concludes our most enjoyable day. (B, D)

Day 5: We travel home filled with good memories of our summertime getaway to Vermont. (B)
